Each page is a mass of lines and shapes that make elaborate patterns. Many are formed from basic tessellated shapes. PART 1 SHAPE A tessellation is a collection of plane shapes that fill an area with no gaps and no overlapping, and are used for patterns and patchwork quilts. Mosaics and tiling are probably the first forms of tessellation using only small squares in chequered or simple patterns.

Cutting across both diagonals will produce a four-piece puzzle which consists of four right-angled triangles.
